File: Luncheon 2023 KF Centre For Excellence
On October 23, 2023, BCGREA Branch 1500 hosted an amazing membership luncheon and branch meeting. The event was held at the award winning KF Centre for Excellence: The Okanagan Aerospace & Aviation Museum. Within the Centre there were aviation exhibits and a collection of historic aircraft highlighting the history of aviation in the Okanagan Valley.
Situated next to the Kelowna International Airport, the Centre’s location allowed for easy access by both Kelowna and Vernon members. Branch members were encouraged to arrive at 11am allowing time to explore all the attractions prior to the luncheon.
Member Lindi S. offered this wonderful summary of the amazing venue:
“Such a lovely luncheon today and wow, what an incredible museum!!! This was such an interesting experience; I didn’t know the story before. Also, I was amazed by the architecture and how the furniture was made from recycled airplane parts. And – we have the biggest repair, overhaul and maintenance services in Canada! It was amazing! I was so impressed by that staircase, which I was told took 2 years to complete. Truly beautiful.”
The small per diem charge of $10 included admission to the Centre as well as a delicious catered lunch of lasagna, Caesar salad, garlic bread and dessert.
Mark Costales from Johnson Insurance (soon to be belairdirect) gave a presentation on the variety of insurance solutions available to the membership including travel, home, and extended health insurance.
