As more retirees seek trustworthy information on employee retirement benefits, government retirement benefits, and even “retirement groups,” our Association continues to support members with reliable guidance and community connections.
There are two types of memberships. Please read the descriptions and then make the appropriate selection in the Membership Application Form below.
Annual Membership Dues are $25 per member. Spouses can be included in membership for a combined total of $40 per couple.
Active Members
Active Members are persons receiving a pension from the Public Service Pension Plan administered by the British Columbia Pension Corporation, and/or their spouses.
Many members join to stay informed about government retirement health benefits, including programs in British Columbia that provide retirement health insurance and health insurance for retired government employees, supporting long-term well-being.
Associate Members
Associate Members are persons, or their spouses, receiving a pension from a plan administered by the British Columbia Pension Corporation, other than the Public Service Pension Plan.
Associate Members enjoy the same opportunities to connect, learn, and stay updated on changes related to government retirement benefits and other supports that matter in retirement.

Anyone receiving a pension from the BC Pension Corporation is eligible to join BCGREA. This includes retired and soon-to-retire public service employees from across British Columbia and those living outside the province.
No. You do not need to be fully retired to join BCGREA. Individuals who are nearing retirement and expect to receive a BC public service pension are welcome to apply for membership.
BCGREA membership is offered at a low annual fee of $25 for the primary membership and an additional $15 to add a spouse/partner. The first year of membership is free for new PSPP members , allowing you to explore the benefits and services before renewing. Members receiving alternate pensions from the BC Pension Corporation (Eg Municipal, Teacher’s College, Worksafe) are not eligible for the first year free offer.
You can apply for BCGREA membership by completing the membership application available on the website. Once your application is submitted, you will receive confirmation and information about accessing member benefits.
Members receive advocacy on pension and benefit issues, access to group insurance options and discounts, trusted information through The PEN newsletter and e-blasts, and opportunities for social connection through local branches.
Yes. BCGREA membership is available to eligible pensioners regardless of where they currently live, including those residing outside British Columbia.
